Fundada en 1537 como una escuela de Teología, fue nombrada universidad a partir de 1890. Actualmente está compuesta por siete facultades: teología, derecho, letras, ciencias políticas y sociales, ciencias económicas y empresariales, ciencias de la tierra y del medio ambiente, y también biología y medicina.

The University of Lausanne (UNIL; French: Université de Lausanne) in Lausanne, Switzerland was founded in 1537 as a school of Protestant theology, before being made a university in 1890. The university is the second oldest in Switzerland, and one of the oldest universities in the world to be in continuous operation.
La Universidad de Lausana se encuentra entre las diez mejores universidades de Suiza, fundada en 1.537, tiene 13.500 estudiantes y 2.200 investigadores y 1.500 estudiantes extranjeros.
