Het is de eerste film die door John Wayne zelf werd geproduceerd (de productiemaatschappij draagt dan ook toepasselijk zijn naam) en het is eigenlijk best wel een atypische film in het oeuvre van de Duke aangezien hij hier de romantische toer opgaat.
