  1. Edmund Gonville and John Caius were the two founders of Gonville & Caius, and the College owes its character to the far-sightedness and individual contributions of both. Gonville, Rector of Terrington St Clement in Norfolk, first founded the College as Gonville Hall in 1348, dedicating it to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  5. The Choir of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge is a collegiate choir in the University of Cambridge, until recently directed by the Buxtehude scholar Geoffrey Webber. [1] The Director of Music at the college is by tradition known as 'Precentor'. The current Precentor (since April 2020) is Matthew Martin.

  6. On June 16th 2016 the College hosted the first gathering of the Caius Choir Alumni association. Formed in the 150th anniversary year of the birth of Charles Wood, the group exists to bring together all former choir members, organ scholars and clergy, recognising their shared musical inheritance in the Chapel and beyond.

  7. The College’s vibrant community comprises of around 850 undergraduates and graduate students, 110 Fellows and academic staff, and almost 200 staff members. Our students come from all over the world and our undergraduates study all the subjects offered in the University. Our postgraduates play a vital role in the research activities of the wider University.
