Gary Louris, né le 10 mars 1955 à Toledo dans l'Ohio, est un guitariste, chanteur et auteur-compositeur de country alternative et de pop.Il est l'un des fondateurs du groupe The Jayhawks et également son principal auteur-compositeur et chanteur après le départ de Mark Olson.C'est lui qui fait passer le groupe d'un style folk-country à un style plus progressif, plus pop.

"Or, 'I absolutely love this.'" Back in 2020, with his band the Jayhawks' album XOXO taking priority, Louris waited—and waited—to put out his solo record, Jump for Joy, as well.
Concurrent with his time in the Jayhawks, Louris has been a charter member of the part-time alt-rock supergroup Golden Smog, which at various times has included members of Soul Asylum, Wilco, the Replacements and Big Star. Louris also formed Au Pair with North Carolina artist Django Haskins in 2015 and re-leased an album that same year.
