David Vitter (born May 3, 1961) is an American politician, lawyer and lobbyist. He was the United States Senator from Louisiana from 2005 to 2017. He is a member of the U.S. Republican Party and has been in Senate since January 3, 2005.
In his twelve years in the U.S. Senate and five years in the U.S. House of Representatives, David Vitter advanced conservative reform and good government. He authored and passed significant legislation, particularly in the areas of chemical regulation, the environment, water infrastructure and maritime commerce, highway infrastructure, and small business.
