The Pipers had been a cooperative group, which each member holding joint ownership of the group name, but upon disbanding those rights passed to Yocum and Lowry. In late 1953, Yocum formed a vocal quartet called “The Pipers.” He then secured an agreement with Lowry, who was no longer singing, to use the Pied Pipers name.

Having read Hamelin town’s own account of June 26th, 1284, one can only assume that such whimsy was far from the minds of its citizens.
The Pied Pipers were an American popular singing group originally formed in the late 1930s. They had several chart hits throughout the 1940s, both under their own name and in association with Tommy Dorsey, with Johnny Mercer and with Frank Sinatra.

13 de feb. de 2023 · The remaining Pipers (Billy Wilson, Chuck Lowry, Jo Stafford, and her then-husband John Huddleston) joined the Tommy Dorsey Band in 1939, backing Sinatra on many classic recordings. In 1942 the Pied Pipers broke away from Dorsey, and Huddleston joined the army, to be replaced by Hal Hopper, one of the original eight members.
