From the start, Omar Kent Dykes and his shifting roster of players have kept faith with blues traditions while introducing touches of R&B and rock into their approach.
Omar & the Howlers are a Texas based electric blues and blues rock band, The original Howlers were formed in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1973. By 1976, the Howlers decided to move and relocate to Austin, Texas, where such clubs as the Soap Creek Saloon, the Broken Spoke, the Armadillo World Headquarters and Antone’s had created a haven for renegade music.
