Jamphel Yeshe Gyaltsen, aka Thupten Jampel Yishey Gyantsen, Tibetan: ཐུབ་བསྟན་འཇམ་དཔལ་ཡེ་ཤེས་རྒྱལ་མཚན་, Wylie: thub-bstan "jam-dpal ye-shes rgyal-mtshan was a Tibetan tulku and the fifth Reting Rinpoche.
The leader of Tibet Jamphel Yeshe Gyaltsen died in 1947, but the 14th Dalai Lama assumed full political power as ruler of Tibet in 1950. In the meantime the head of state was Ngawang Sungrab Thutob, so I did his portrait.

The young Panchen Lama and his entourage went to Lhasa to see Gyalwa Jamphel Gyatso, the 8 th Dalai Lama. Yongzin Yeshi Gyaltsen, the main tutor of the 8 th Dalai Lama, was then living in the chamber above the convention-hall of the cabinet [of the Tibetan Government] at Potala Palace.
