VALIE EXPORT is an Austrian avant-garde feminist artist. She is best known for her photography and radical performances that explore the female body and the 'male gaze'. Born as Waltraud Lehner, later Waltraud Höllinger, in 1967 the artist created her new identity as VALIE EXPORT, which became her trademark. She moved to Vienna in the 1960s.
