MGM musical with film noir interludes featuring Mickey Rooney. Interesting concept, and I appreciate The Strip (1951) for that, but it's a bit of a miss. But even if the idea didn't work, there's a lot of musical numbers to enjoy, including from the great Louis Armstrong.
