On the day, Flear ran a 26:30.5 in an 8k and held a 5:03.5. Flear classified the course as one of the most "challenging" courses he's ran while the atmosphere was "intense" with the number of runners and the stakes on the line.

He has coached numerous individual Middle Atlantic Conference champions and has produced 58 All-Americans, including a six-time national champion in Macharia Yuot and 16 of Widener’s 57 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
