Born August 13, 1964, in Moscow, Apostoli is the daughter of Russian football player and manager Sergei Salnikov. Her father was a member of the Soviet team which won the gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics and at the club level he both played and managed FC Spartak Moscow.

He was born to a Russian mother (Julia Apostoli) and a Greek father (Apostolos Tsitsipas). Both had been functioning as tennis teachers at the Astir Palace resort lodging in Vouliagmeni when he was born.
Tsitsipas was born on 12 August 1998 to Apostolos Tsitsipas and Julia Apostoli (née Salnikova) in Athens. His father is Greek and was born in Proastio, Karditsa [6] and his mother is Russian. His maternal grandfather, Sergei Salnikov, was a Soviet footballer who played for Zenit Leningrad, Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Moscow.
