The XX Olympic Winter Games will be held in Turin, Italy from February 10 to 26. This will be the second time that Italy will host the Olympic Winter Games (the VII Olympic Winter Games were held in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956), and the third time overall that Italy will host Olympic Games, (the second was the XVII Olympiad in Rome in 1960).

The Organising Committee for the XX Olympic Winter Games – Torino 2006 (TOROC) has unveiled the Olympic cauldron for the Turin Games. The 57 metre high cauldron will be lit on 10 February 2006 during the Opening Ceremony of the Games and will protect and display the Olympic flame during the period of the Games.
