“3 Godfathers” is an adaption of a novelette that transplants the three wise men to Arizona, casting them instead as three on the lam bank robbers, who find themselves entrusted as guardians of an orphaned baby in the desert. Ford had already taken a swing at the material once before, in the (now lost) silent film “Marked Men.”

19 de abr. de 2024 · Final Thoughts. 3 Godfathers is a classic Western tale from the great John Ford which reveals a bit of his sentimental side to great effect. John Wayne is in top form leading this trio of performers who each impress in their own way. Some may long for the darker tone of some of the earlier interpretations of the story, but we appreciate the mood struck by the Ford-Wayne collaboration.
