Carriera. Il 30 dicembre 1984 Chvorostovskij debuttò al Teatro dell'Opera di Krasnojarsk, per cui fu solista dal 1985 al 1990, interpretando il personaggio di Marullo nel Rigoletto. Nel 1986 vinse il concorso canoro dedicato a Michail Glinka a Baku e nel 1988 il Prémier Grand-Prix al Concorso Internazionale di Canto di Tolosa.
