Walking through the heavy wooden doors of Queen’s College, a visitor embarks on a journey through time. The entrance vestibule, while welcoming with its open doors today, holds traces of the past in its memorials and busts. Boards on the left commemorate OQs who died in wars, with poignant additions marking teachers lost in World Wars I and II.

The Queen’s College is one of Oxford’s oldest and most central colleges, located on the High Street in the city centre. Affectionately known as “Queen’s”, the college was founded in 1341 by Robert de Eglesfield and named after Queen Philippa of Hainault, the wife of King Edward III.
The Queen's College is een van 39 colleges van de Universiteit van Oxford en werd gesticht in 1341 door Robert de Eglesfield (c. 1295-1349), kapelaan van koningin Filippa van Henegouwen, de vrouw van koning Eduard III van Engeland. Vandaar de naam van dit college.
