A lo largo de su larga carrera, también trabajó con artistas como Elton John, Eric Clapton y Paul McCartney, según el obituario compartido por Osibisa.. En 1985, Giblin se convirtió en el bajista de Simple Minds tras la salida de Derek Forbes del grupo. Hizo su debut con la banda en Live Aid en Filadelfia.
