The Notting Hillbillies was een countryband opgericht door Mark Knopfler, die toentertijd nog lid was van Dire Straits.Hij startte de band met Brendan Croker, Steve Phillips en zijn bandlid van Dire Straits Guy Fletcher in 1990. Ze hebben slechts een album uitgegeven onder de naam Missing...Presumed Having a Good Time in 1990. Sindsdien hebben de bandleden zich gericht op hun hoofdbands.

I was attracted to this album by the name of the group. I fear I have made some mistake. Despite the presence of the world's fifth greatest ever guitarist Mark Knophler (the spelling has always caused me problems), the first track realises my worst fears. track 2, however, is more bluesy, and really nice.

The group consisted of Knopfler, Steve Phillips, Brendan Croker, Guy Fletcher, Paul Franklin, Marcus Cliffe and Ed Bicknell. They gave their first performance at a small club in Leeds, and followed up with a tour.
