  4. Anyone can apply to Jesus College; we select the best people, regardless of their background. We admit around 145 undergraduates every year to study with us, and offer all the subjects available in the University. We're just above medium size for a Cambridge College, and there are roughly equal numbers of students studying arts and sciences.

  5. Jesus College was founded in June 1571 by a group of Welshmen led by Hugh Price, a lawyer, clergyman and Treasurer of St. David’s Cathedral. In approving the new foundation however, Queen Elizabeth I appointed herself its Foundress, and Jesus became the first and only Oxford College to be founded during the monarch’s reign.

  6. Founded in 1571, the College retains many of its original features – including our beautiful Elizabethan dining hall (below), Chapel, and Principal’s Lodgings. Jesus College was one of the first men’s colleges to admit women, in 1974, but nowadays, our student intake is evenly balanced between men and women.
