Louis Vierne of France was one of the great composers of the 20th Century. He wrote music for many instruments, but he is best remembered for his works for organ, which I will discuss below. However, this is precisely the reason why he is usually not recognized as a great composer; for just as the organ has been neglected in our time, so have composers of organ music.
