Marshall David Sahlins (fødd 27. desember 1930) er ein framståande USA-amerikansk antropolog.. Liv og gjerning. Sahlins er fødd i Chicago i Illinois, og fekk både ein bachelorgrad og mastergrad ved University of Michigan, der han studerte med Leslie White.Han tok doktorgraden ved Columbia University i 1954, der han mottok avgjerande intellektuell påverknad frå Karl Polanyi og Julian Steward.
