On Monday the National Aeronautics and Space Administration selected Axiom Space as the winner of the NextSTEP-2 Appendix I solicitation, which sought to grant access to the International Space Station's Node 2 Forward port for a commercial space station that could ultimately serve as ISS' replacement.

11 de may. de 2022 · Axiom Space recently welcomed home the crew of Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1) after successfully completing the first all-private astronaut mission to the ISS, a precursor mission to Axiom Station. The company has also signed agreements with several nations including Italy, Hungary, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to fly on future space missions.

Ali Alqarni is an astronaut who represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as mission specialist on Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2). Alqarni brings more than 12 years of flying experience with 2,387 flight hours. He is a knowledgeable fighter pilot with experience on multiple aircraft, including the Cessna 172, T-6, T-38, and F-15S.
