Strange title for a comedy, especially when the "Valley of Woe" is apropos of nothing in the story. The film opens with a shot of a midget wrestling match. The two promoters of that fight (Mario Cantenuto and Raimondo Vianello) stumble upon a time machine and accidentally transport themselves back to 5000 BC on the isle of Crete.

Hercules in the Valley of Woe would be one of the first films for the duo, who would carry their Italian buffoonery for many decades with titles that are asinine to read out loud.
