The Rumble Strips are an English band from Tavistock, Devon. The 4-piece line-up of Charlie Waller, Henry Clark, Tom Gorbutt & Keith Lunnon was present from the first recordings until late 2006 when Sam Mansbridge joined to fill out the sound developed during the recording of 'Girls & Weather'. The band were signed to Fallout Records, a subsidiary of Universal Island Records.

5 de ago. de 2008 · The Rumble Strips don't take any chances on Girls and Weather, but that's because they don't need to. If the Devon foursome's fun, innocent, and refreshingly light tone -- not to mention their eschewing of guitars in favor of horns -- isn't enough to make their debut album stand out, then their musicianship and wry lyrics certainly are.
One of the most fun albums of that year, and a great couple to Vampire Weekend's debut, "Girls and Weather" sounds like Dexys Midnight Runners but for teen hipsters from 2007. And maybe the sunny hipsterism of it all will pull you apart, but the album is so well arranged, with is passionate voice, its catchy soul tunes (full of trumpets, everywhere), and wonderful change of melodies.
