Jazz musician, blues vocalist and band leader Hot Lips Page (born Oran Page on January 27, 1908, in Dallas, TX) was much influenced and often overshadowed by Louis Armstrong. Page specialized on the trumpet from the age of 12. He first toured the vaudeville circuit with Ma Rainey, after a spell of manual labour in the Seminole oilfields in Texas.

By the age of twelve he could play the clarinet, saxophone, and trumpet. He joined a local youth band, led by drummer Lux Alexander, which played at local venues around Dallas.

[1] Nacido en Dallas, Texas, de adolescente se trasladó a Corsicana ().Comenzó su carrera tocando en los circos y en el circuito de la Theater Owners Bookers Association (T.O.B.A.), con cantantes de blues como Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith e Ida Cox.

  6. 31 de may. de 2023 · On Nov. 10, 1928, Hot Lips Page made his recording debut on the only session (“Blue Devil Blues” and “Squabblin’”) that exists of Walter Page’s Blue Devils which was based in Kansas City. Walter Page (who was not related to Hot Lips) had heard the trumpeter with Sugar Lou and Eddie’s group a couple years before and had him join the band in 1927.
