Robert James Hutton (April 21, 1950 – April 6, 1968), also known as " Lil' Bobby ", was the treasurer and first recruit to join the Black Panther Party. Alongside Eldridge Cleaver and other Panthers, he was involved in a confrontation with Oakland police that wounded two officers. Hutton was killed by the police under disputed circumstances.

Hutton’s family had moved to Oakland from Arkansas as part of the Great Migration, fleeing threats of white supremacist violence from nightriders. Every April since Hutton’s death, family and friends have held a memorial service at DeFremery Park, which, in 1998, was renamed Bobby Hutton Park by the City of Oakland, California. Around the same time, the Commemoration Committee for the Black Panther Party organized the Lil’ Bobby Hutton Literacy Campaign.
Bobby Hutton is killed during a shootout with police in Oakland. April 12, 1968 Bobby Hutton's funeral is held at the Ephesians Church of God in Berkeley, California; over 2,000 people attend.
