This chapter studies Andrew Jackson Davis (1826-1910), often cited as the philosopher-theologian of American spiritualism, who early displayed susceptibilities to mesmeric trance. In the mid-1840s, he delivered a series of trance-produced lectures in New York City, which were transcribed and published in the huge Nature’s Divine Revelations.
