Transilvania University of Brașov (Romanian: Universitatea Transilvania din Brașov; UNITBV, also stylised UniTBv) is a higher education and research institution in Brașov, Romania which comprises 18 faculties, with a number of over 20,000 students and over 690 teaching staff members.
Transilvania University of Brasov (UniTBv) is the largest public university in the central region of Romania, with 19.300 students and 760 full-time academic staff.
Transilvania University of Brașov was founded in 1971 but its roots can be traced back to 1948 when the Institute of Silviculture was established. The Institute of Mechanics opened in 1949 and joined with the Institute of Silviculture four years later to form the Polytechnic Institute of Brașov.
Transilvania University of Brasov, an accredited public higher education institution with a tradition of over half a century, has the mission of providing and developing the resources and tools for high quality teaching and scientific research, such as to ensure its competitiveness in the European Higher Education Area.
