North Country School (also called NCS) is an independent junior boarding and day school for boys and girls in grades four through nine. Its 220-acre campus is located in Lake Placid, New York, United States, in the High Peaks Region of the 6 million acre Adirondack Park.
From the School. NCS is known for its progressive education, arts, and farm and garden programs. Founded in 1938, North Country School offers a progressive, hands-on education for children in grades 4-9. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and countries.
Since 1938, North Country School has offered a hands-on, place-based education and core academic curriculum founded on the progressive tradition of John Dewey.
