Rushes. Recording for their second studio album Rushes began in February 1998. Unlike their previous work, Rushes was not reliant on McCartney's previously released songs to create the tracks for the album.

After the release of 1993’s Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest in 1993, McCartney was asked by his fan club magazine, Club Sandwich why he chose the name The Fireman.
