Douglas Lloyd Ingle (born September 9, 1945) is an American musician, best known as the founder and former organist, primary composer, and lead vocalist for the band Iron Butterfly. Ingle wrote the band's iconic song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", which was first released in 1968.
The original members were Doug Ingle (vocals, organ, formerly of Jeri and the Jeritones and Palace Pages, Iron Butterfly's forerunner), Jack Pinney (drums), Greg Willis (bass), and Danny Weis (guitar, also of Palace Pages). The group were soon joined by vocalist and tambourine player Darryl DeLoach.
A deluxe collection, the CD set is completely remastered with added bonus tracks. A U.S. tour is planned, and upon the completion of that tour, the band will then go into the studio to record a new CD. We spoke with Iron Butterfly lead vocalist, Doug Ingle. Q - Doug, let's start with the present.
