Welcome to the home page of the West Hartlepool Grammar School Old Boys Association website. The Association was founded in the early part of the last century and has currently, a membership of around two hundred Old Boys of the School.
In 1944, as a consequence of the Butler Act, the School became the West Hartlepool Grammar School for Boys. In 1973, under the re-organisation of secondary education in the town. it became the Upper School of Brinkburn Comprehensive School.
The club formed after the Great War in 1921 as Technical Old Boys and at one stage they amalgamated with West to become West Tech. However, they reverted back to Secondary School Old Boys (SSOB) and following the Second World War became the very successful Grammar School Old Boys.
1944 - 1967 - West Hartlepool Grammar School. Images from the many Rugby XVs turned out by the School over the seasons; we would welcome names of players shown to add to the site, or where applicable dates of the image or trophy on display.
It was originally known as West Hartlepool Grammar School (also known as Brinkburn Grammar School) from 1902. The Girls' High School opened on Eldon Grove in 1912, and the school became a boys' school. It then became the Upper School of Brinkburn Comprehensive School in 1973.
