Roger Troutman (November 29, 1951 – April 25, 1999) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist and the founder of the band Zapp who helped spearhead the funk movement and influenced West Coast hip hop due to the scene's heavy sampling of his music.
It is the opening track on their eponymous debut album and serves as the album's first single. The song was written, [6] arranged, composed and produced [7] by Roger Troutman; and it peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980. [8] The song title was taken from a 1950s Pepsi ad campaign of the same name.
