The Smugglers (Hungarian: Csempészek) is a 1958 Hungarian drama film directed by Félix Máriássy and starring Margit Bara, Gábor Agárdi and Teri Horváth. It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Béla Zeichan.

Among the best is The Smugglers, a defiantly amateurish non-adventure adventure film concerning three people off in the wilds with no skills whatsoever, made in advance of May ’68. In its terminally digressive, aggressively slapsticky way, the film manages to encapsulate an entire era.

In the thirties, the poor living by the Romanian-Hungarian border, were forced to smuggling if they wanted to survive. Mihály, the Hungarian peasant, kills a border guard while fleeing. He is fed up with smuggling and wants to put an end to it, yet he needs money to get a job so he embarks on another turn.
