In an interview at the time the album came out, she said, “The most fun we had was cutting ‘Corner Pocket,’ because we sing that type of big band vocals very naturally.” Alan commented that “Count Basie’s ‘Corner Pocket,’ with words by Jon Hendricks, is in the traditional big band style. It’s wonderful!”
Extensions. (1979) Mecca for Moderns. (1981) Extensions is the fifth studio album by the Manhattan Transfer, released on October 31, 1979, by Atlantic Records . Marking a new era for the group, the album was the first one with Cheryl Bentyne, who replaced Laurel Massé in early 1979.
Posteriormente vino el reconocimiento de la industria con varios premios Grammy, el primero de los cuales recibieron en 1980 por Mecca for Moderns, y posteriormente ganaron el Grammy a la mejor interpretación vocal jazz, duo o grupo, por su versión de la canción "Route 66", de 1982.
