Carrera profesional. Eliades Ochoa Bustamante nació el 22 de junio de 1946 en el poblado de Songo la Maya, en Santiago de Cuba, en un lugar llamado La Loma de la Avispa. Comenzó a tocar la guitarra con seis años de manera autodidacta. Sus padres eran de procedencia campesina y músicos naturales.
