Lewis Michael Soloff [1] (February 20, 1944 – March 8, 2015) [2] was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and actor. Biography. From his birth place of New York City, United States, [1] he studied trumpet at the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School. He worked with Blood, Sweat & Tears from 1968 until 1973. [1] .

Lewis “Lew” Michael Soloff, perhaps best known or his work with the band Blood, Sweat & Tears, passed away at the age of 71. The cause of death was a heart attack. Soloff grew up in Lakewood, New Jersey, and began playing trumpet at the age of 10.
Lew Soloff has nine solo albums to his credit. He presently works with Manhattan Brass, Manhattan Jazz Quintet and Orchestra, is a recurring soloist with both Absolute Ensemble and The Fab Faux, is on the board of Lyric Chamber Society, tours with Marianne Faithfull, Steve Tyrell, and also his own trio, quartet and quintet.
