Solange Clésinger-Sand, daughter of prolific 19th century French author George Sand and Casimir Dudevant. Studied piano with Frédéric Chopin during Chopin's summer sojourns at the Sand estate in Nohant from the late 1830s to mid 1840s. Married sculptor Jean-Baptiste (Auguste) Clésinger in 1847.
Sand commanded Solange and her husband to leave Nohant and forbade Clésinger ever to set foot on the property again. The Clésingers left, carrying with them the statue of the Faune enfant that Clésinger had dedicated to Sand, as well as his Mélancolie, which he had given Sand on the occasion of his marriage.
