John Avila is an American bassist and music producer, best known for being in the new wave band Oingo Boingo from 1984 to 1995. Career. Avila co-founded the music group Food for Feet in 1981, and played with them until 1991. In 1984, he joined Oingo Boingo, replacing bassist Kerry Hatch. He played with Boingo until 1995.

John Avila (born January 14, 1957 in San Gabriel, California) is an American bassist and music producer. He is perhaps best known as the bassist of the Los Angeles based New Wave band Oingo Boingo from 1984 to 1995. He was also a member/co-founder of the group Food for Feet from 1981 to 1991.
