Chansons des mers froides (French: Songs from the Cold Seas) is a 1994 album by French musician Hector Zazou. Zazou enlisted several singers for the recording, such as Siouxsie, Björk, John Cale, Suzanne Vega and Jane Siberry among others, and native singers of the Arctic.
Siouxsie Sioux recites an excerpt from a sinister poem by Wilfred Wilson Gibson with shamanic throaty incantations in the background. The rest of the record is filled with atmospheres that evoke different aspects of the North Seas with a bunch of singers including Jane Sibery and a myriad of others with often unpronounceable names.

A bunch of varied sea songs from Zazou, with impressive guest artists. You can easily recognize the ZNR coolness in these tunes; the prescence of clarinet and sparsity of the arrangements, but the mid 90s outfit (trip hop drums and all) isn't quite as interesting as the patchwork music of his earlier days.
