Stanisław Moniuszko (Ubiel, [1] Zarato de Polonia, 5 de mayo de 1819 [2] -Varsovia, 4 de junio de 1872) [3] fue un compositor polaco. Estudió en Berlín, e influido por las teorías del nacionalismo musical, fue el creador de la ópera polaca, con Halka (1848), que se estrenó en Varsovia en 1858.

He was born to a family of Polish landowners settled in Ubiel, near Minsk (now Belarus), and his interest in music became evident from his early early childhood.

He began learning music with his mother as a teacher. When the family moved to Minsk, he studied with Dominik Dziewanowski, then trained with August Freyer in Warsaw.
