Rudolf Franz Ferdinand Höß war ein deutscher Nationalsozialist, SS-Obersturmbannführer und von Mai 1940 bis November 1943 Kommandant des Konzentrationslagers Auschwitz. Er wurde als Kriegsverbrecher 1947 zum Tode durch den Strang verurteilt und am Ort des ehemaligen Stammlagers hingerichtet.
