Yoshiyuki Tomino (富野 由悠季, Tomino Yoshiyuki, born 富野 喜幸; November 5, 1941) is a Japanese anime director, screenwriter, songwriter and novelist best known for creating the Gundam anime franchise.

Yoshiyuki Tomino is a Japanese anime director, writer, and producer, best known for creating the Gundam franchise. He has also worked on other shows such as Ashita no Joe, Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans, and Gundam: G no Reconguista.

Tomino is perhaps best known for his transformation of the super robot genre into the real robot genre with 1979's Mobile Suit Gundam.
