The Sunny Side of the Street (Chinese: 白日青春) is a 2022 Hong Kong drama film written and directed by Lau Kok Rui. The feature debut of Malaysia-born Lau Kok-rui, the film tells the story of a Hong Kong-born Pakistani refugee boy who forms an unexpected bond with a local taxi driver.
Hassan is a Hong Kong-born Pakistani kid waiting for refugee status to Canada. His father died in a car accident that Yat is involved in, who himself was a refugee from China in the 1970s. When Hassan joins a refugees' gang and gets entangled with the police, Yat decides to help him flee, but Hassan finds out the truth about his father's death.
