Nazz, 1968. From left: Carson Van Osten, Stewkey, Todd Rundgren, Thom Mooney. The Nazz was an American rock band formed in Philadelphia in 1967. The group was founded by guitarist and main songwriter Todd Rundgren and bassist Carson Van Osten. [3] Drummer Thom Mooney and vocalist/keyboardist Robert "Stewkey" Antoni joined soon after.
Named after the Yardbirds' song "The Nazz Are Blue" Nazz is best known for featuring multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Todd Rundgren before he reached critical acclaim as a solo artist in the 1970s. Their most famous songs include the Rundgren originals "Open My Eyes" and "Hello It's Me."
