Horslips were the first "Celtic Rock" band in Ireland, releasing their first single in 1972. They disbanded in 1980, with some of their members going on to high profile careers (Eamon Carr as a journalist, Barry Devlin as a screenwriter and Jim Lockhart as a top Irish radio producer).
Horslips is an Irish band that combined rock, folkrock and light progressive rock. On 'The Book of Invasions' the band clearly sets out tot create an ambitious progressive rock album, but yet it lacks any layered depths.

Today all albums continue to sell well and the band's anthemic single Dearg Doom is known to a whole generation of clubbers who weren't even thought of when Horslips was in its pomp.
