Heinz Fischer is a former Austrian politician who served as President of Austria from 2004 to 2016. He was a professor of Political Science, a member of the Social Democratic Party, and a co-founder of the Ban Ki-Moon Centre for Global Citizens.

Heinz Fischer, presidente de Austria desde el 8/7/2004, fue reelegido para un segundo ejercicio de seis años en las elecciones presidenciales del 25/4/2010; concurriendo como independiente aunque nominado por el SPÖ, Fischer se impuso con el 79,3% de los votos a Barbara Rosenkranz, del FPÖ, y a Rudolf Gehring, del CPÖ.
