  2. Viscount Caldecote, of Bristol in the County of Gloucester, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1939 for the lawyer and politician Sir Thomas Inskip so that he could sit in the House of Lords and serve as Lord Chancellor.

  3. During the First World War Inskip served in naval intelligence in London, becoming head of the naval law branch in 1918. He represented the Admiralty on the war crimes committee (1918-19) and successfully stood as the Conservative candidate for Bristol Central at the general election of 1918.
