Richard Colley Wellesley, 1st Marquess Wellesley, KG, KP, PC, PC (Ire) (20 June 1760 – 26 September 1842) was an Anglo-Irish politician and colonial administrator. He was styled as Viscount Wellesley until 1781, when he succeeded his father as 2nd Earl of Mornington.

Wellesley was a member of the Board of Control for India from 1793, and in 1797 was appointed as Governor-General of Bengal. In 1799 he was created Marquess Wellesley in the Irish peerage. He remained in India until 1805, and extended British control through various wars against Indian rulers.
Richard Wellesley lived with the French actress Hyacinthe-Gabrielle Roland and the couple had five children together before he married her in 1794, although the children were considered illegitimate so did not inherit the title of Marquess.
