If Cecil Frederick Russell (1897–1987) is remembered at all today, it tends to be as an acolyte, however briefly, of Aleister Crowley. Russell first came across Crowley by reading his 'The Revival of Magick' in The International in 1917, and met him for the first time in June 1918, at Crowley's New York apartment.
